Any KL people would be comfortable with the name Inside Scoop that has built its name to be one of the best ice cream parlours around Kuala Lumpur and Klang Valley. With Inside Scoop’s flavourful ranges of ice cream to choose from, this name is an absolute gem for dessert lovers. Vary from the classic vanilla beans too much more exotic ones such as the best-selling cempedak flavour, durian – King of all fruits – and teh tarik flavour. The locality of the flavour really bursts through to your tongue with cempedak bits hinting every scoop you are taking, and richness of the teh tarik is strong to strike on your palette.

#3 IlaoIlaoSource

Ilao Ilao has been extremely well received overseas, especially in Europe and Singapore. Luckily, we do not have to travel all the way there for natural frozen yoghurt as Ilao Ilao was brought into Malaysia lately. They proffer amazingly good yoghurt with a series of toppings, fresh fruits and homemade sauce. Fruits are cut daily and fresh berries (not frozen) are imported. Yoghurt is made from skimmed milk and has a low-fat content, which makes it melt a little quicker, but the flavours are absolutely to die for!

#4 The Club @ GTowerSource

Though this may be the last place anyone might ever think of having ice cream, they do offer homemade ones which are absolutely delicious. For those who enjoy an ‘oomph’ of flavour, the black sesame is definitely worth the shot. The richness and depth are incredible. As for the teh tarik flavour, it is slightly sweeter than usual, but would be a perfect scoop for any sweet tooth.

Nestled within the rushing Bukit Bintang, Booza has been making waves with their homemade Turkish ice cream. Are you active on social media?  If you’re active on social media, you may have stumbled across ice cream carts in Turkey where the ice cream master often pulls out tricks with long scoops and cones. And expect the same here with a range of flavours that come in thick, gooey and chewy texture. It might sound like a dissimilar league of its own but munching down this refreshing ice cream will have your appreciating the blazing sun.

Not your regular ice cream bar for sure and it’s the brainchild of Inside Scoop, possibly the most cherished ice cream spot in town. Toss the confetti – ice cream with alcohol is the star of the show here too! Expect flavours like Whisky Cream, XO Cranberry, Whisky & Nuts, Smoked Cognac, Beer and Bailey’s. For those of you who don’t do so well with alcohol, you may plunge headlong into flavours like Dragon Fruit Sorbet, Teh Tarik, Kopi Peng, Almond Butterscotch, White Truffle Chocolate with Sea Salt, Mint Stracciatella, Pistachio and Hazelnut. Another signature here is their buttermilk waffles which play as an ideal bed to these sure-win ice creams.

Whimsical Gelateria and Cafe is another birth child by Cielo Dolci. It features a wide scope of western dishes such as kinds of pasta and sandwiches, along with some delicious and photo-worthy ice cream. They are also the first who made the Nasi Lemak Gelato, which sounds extremely weird but is addictive at the same time. A newcomer on the menu, Blueberry Muffin gelato is quickly nabbing accolades too.

Sangkaya has ranked a firm foothold in the ice cream scene all over the country by combining two best-known thirst quenchers around – ice cream and fresh coconut milk. It’s served in coconut husk and paired with swirls of fresh coconut flesh beneath. The flavour is spot-on with a subtle balance of creaminess and light flavours of the coconut. Sidestepping from sugar-obsessed toppings, one can expect roasted peanuts, coconut flakes, corn flakes, cereal, corn, kidney beans and chocolate syrup tarting up the delectable scoops. If you yearn for varieties – Thai Milk Tea, Teh Tarik and Matcha are equally exciting.

Mikey’s latest venture will allow customers to choose their own flavour, be it the Vanilla Dream, Chocolate Pudding, Au Naturel, a mix of two or their Flavour of the Week. Additional toppings are also advocated. After all, there are about 26 different toppings for you all to choose from! You guys can simply mix, match and enjoy.

#10 Magnum Cafe Source

You will begin by choosing classic vanilla or chocolate brownie, then comes the most exciting part, dressing it to kill with toppings like almonds, pistachio, dark chocolate pearls, goji berries, white choco crunch pearls, dried mango, potato chips and freeze-dried raspberries. End up by choosing white or dark chocolate drizzle and let it rest for two to three minutes.

#11 MilkcowSource

Milkcow is a famous ice cream parlour from Korea that has been reaping up positive comments with their soft serve ice cream, made from 100% fresh organic milk. The real deal here is torment up the icy goodness with jelly beans, natural honeycomb, organic cotton candy, Cadbury Crunchie, sweet red beans, macaroon and white chocolate chips.

Everyone loves scoops of ice cream between buns!  For one that would make your day outstanding, head up to Thirty Seconds, a humble family-run cafe with snug vibes and solace dishes. And to put an end to your interest, the name of the restaurant refers to the ideal length of time to pull a shot of espresso. Be sure of wrapping up your meal with their Shamaziin ice cream sandwich, made an artisanal ice cream maker. Either charcoal buns or regular toasted buns are halved and filled with scoops of ice creams, not your average chocolate or vanilla, be awed with Horlicks & Maltesers and Peanut Butter Milo. The bread takes advantage of the creamy goodness, turning a little mushy in a good way and the taste of the ice cream is as good as the name. If you are one of those who likes dipping French fries into ice cream, you couldn’t ask for anything better, as the platter comes with fries.
